Monsterlings — Privacy Policy

Monsterlings has no accounts, no ads, no analytics, and no tracking. You can play the entire game without sending us anything at all. The one exception is the Hall of Fame, the game's optional leaderboard, and this page explains exactly what that sends and why.

What stays on your device

Your progress, best score, coins, unlocked monsters, puzzle times and settings are saved on your device. We never receive them, and deleting the app deletes them.

The Hall of Fame (optional)

After a run ends — or a puzzle is completed — the game offers you the chance to put a name on the leaderboard. Nothing is sent unless you choose a name and tap SUBMIT. Skipping it costs you nothing; the rest of the game works exactly the same.

If you do submit, the game sends three things to our own server at hall.dailyjourney.site:

• The name you type. Up to six characters, letters and digits only. You choose it each time, and it is shown publicly on the leaderboard inside the game. Please do not use your real name or anything else personal — it is meant to be an arcade nickname.
• The result being submitted. A score, a level reached, an arcade wave, or a puzzle solve time.
• A random installation number. The app creates this number for itself the first time it runs. It is not your device's advertising identifier and is not tied to your name, Apple ID, Google account, email, or phone. We use it for one purpose: limiting how many entries a single installation can submit per day, so nobody can flood the board.

If you are offline when you submit, the entry waits on your device and is sent the next time the game has a connection.

What we do not collect

No email address, name, phone number, contacts, photos, location, health data, payment details, browsing or search history, or advertising identifiers. We run no analytics and no advertising, and we do not track you across other apps or websites. We do not sell, rent, or share leaderboard entries with anyone, and there are no third-party SDKs in the game.

Moderation and reporting

Because leaderboard names are chosen by players, they are user-generated content. Submitted names are screened against a blocklist and rejected if they contain offensive words. If something objectionable still reaches the board, email us at the address below and we will remove it — we can delete any entry and block a name from being used again.

Keeping and removing entries

Leaderboard entries stay on the board until they are removed. You can ask us to delete an entry at any time by emailing the address below and telling us the name and roughly when it was submitted; we do not need any other information from you to find it. Removing the app also stops any further submissions.

Children

Monsterlings is suitable for all ages and asks for no personal information. The leaderboard accepts only a short nickname, and we ask that players do not enter real names or contact details in it.

Game updates

When online, the app may download game-content updates from a static web host (GitHub Pages). This is a plain file download: no personal information is sent by the app, and we receive no data about you. That host, and the network provider in front of our leaderboard server, may log standard technical request data such as IP addresses, as any web server does. We do not use those logs to identify players.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
